The 2016 Toyota Sienna – Best New Car for Growing Families

2016 Toyota Sienna
I like the idea of a minivan for work and for driving my kids because I'm what many folks call a "sports mom." I was impressed with advanced information about the 2016 Toyota and its top safety rating. My husband and I shopped the 2016 Sienna at the Olympia Auto Mall, a great place to look for all makes and models of vehicles.

I chose the 2016 Toyota Sienna based on reviews and Car and Driver naming the Sienna “Best New Car for Growing Families”.

We made the decision to check out the Sienna along with other models. We liked the room in the 2016 Sienna along with the all-wheel drive, six-speed automatic transmission and V-6 3.5-liter engine with 266 horsepower. Toyota also offers the Sienna in a Hybrid version.

The exterior features LED headlamps and four entries including the sliding passenger door. The tailgate opens two ways with automatic controls.

The interior of 2016 is outstanding with telescoping and tilt steering wheel, an easy to see dashboard, three zone climate control, height adjustable seats, rearview camera and the Bluetooth connections. I want the complete Entune infotainment and navigation system with the new 6.1 inch touchscreen. We can also have our own WiFi hotspot.

I also wanted the extra the safety package with the lane departure, blind-spot and rear cross traffic warning systems and parking assist. A sunroof is nice but the heated seats are mandatory for Northwest winters. The keyless entry and start are nice features. Best of all, I can carry six passengers in comfort or I can put the back seat down for Lacrosse equipment, camping and fishing gear or golf clubs.

Shopping for a great minivan, visit the Olympia Auto Mall and see the all-new 2016 Toyota Sienna today.

Outlandishly Stylish and Very Functional – The New 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

With a full model redesign still visible in the rearview mirror, you've got to hand it Mitsubishi for taking the bull by the horns and making major changes to the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander. Even though they are largely cosmetic updates to the exterior, it's clear that Mitsubishi wants to keep your attention on this stylish and functional vehicle. If you are looking for a crossover SUV or CUV as the Outlander is tagged, this is one of the 2016 new cars in Olympia that is worth checking out.

From the new redesigned model that arrived in 2014, Mitsubishi has updated this year's Outlander with over 100 exciting new improvements, from grille work up front to a new continuously variable transmission inside. Acceleration and efficiency are improved with the 4-cylinder delivering 31 mpg on the highway.

The Outlander remains one of the only crossovers on the market to offer standard third-row seating, which is a nice luxury. Mitsubishi brings back both the 2.4L four-cylinder engine that those looking for improved gas mileage will prefer, while a 3.0L V6 option grants the 2016 Outlander a 2,000-lb. increase in towing capacity, to a total of 3,500 lbs.

Across the board, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander also received platform improvements to its handling and ride. Add in the Mitsubishi "Fuse" infotainment system, bringing Bluetooth audio and phone connectivity standard to all trim levels, and it is hard to argue that the Outlander isn't one of the most feature-packed entries in the segment.

If you've been on the lookout for a new vehicle, check out the Outlander. It is the most affordable Crossover Utility Vehicle with 3 rows of seats and plenty of pickup.

Cruise by the Auto Mall today to get a closer look at the new 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander.

Fun and Functionality – Check out the New Mazda CX-5

2016 Mazda CX-5

Elegantly styled, tremendously functional and exceptionally fuel efficient, the new Mazda CX-5 – an SUV crossover vehicle recently introduced by the Japanese automaker – makes an excellent choice for any new car buyer in the Olympia, WA area. Here are the most notable reasons why:

Superior Performance – While a slightly smaller – but still quite nimble – 155-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is available, driving aficionados will want to choose the 184-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder with standard front-wheel drive or the optional all-wheel drive – each comes equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission. All with 24/30 mpg.

New Styling – While the 2016 Mazda CX-5 is not a complete remakes of the 2015 model, it does benefit from a revised suspension, added sound insulation for a quieter cabin, an updated digital information interface as well as minor exterior styling tweaks.

Advanced Safety Features – These features include the newest generation of LED headlights – no more of those glaring xenon ones – plus technological innovations like lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and rear cross-traffic alert. In addition, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity is now standard in every model.

Functional by Design – With 64.8 cubic feet of cargo space and the ability to haul 1065 lbs of weight, this sporty SUV crossover can still function as a great family car. There is plenty of room for the kids as well as groceries and the occasional large purchase from the appliance or hardware store.

Curved and Sporty – the new 2016 Nissan Murano

2016 Nissan Murano

Ever since bursting on the scene in 2003, the Nissan Murano has been popular with consumers looking for a vehicle in the crossover SUV segment. By combining style, plenty of passenger room and a good mix of efficiency and power, there's no secret why. When the Murano arrives along with the other 2016 new cars in Olympia, chances are it will remain a popular choice.

As other manufacturer's entries in the segment have caught up with the Murano, Nissan has once again taken to making bold strokes when redesigning the exterior. Futuristic lines, curved and sporty, define the outside of the new Murano. There's the floating roof, plenty of chrome accents and winged headlights that give Nissan's crossover a newly distinguished look.

Inside, Nissan's zero-gravity seats make their debut. The Murano even doubles down, placing them not only up front, but in the second row as well. These seats make even long drives comfortable. An increase in size over last year gives passengers a bit more elbow room as well.

Under the hood, a 3.5L V6 continues to power the Murano. It's got plenty of power, putting out 260 horsepower. EPA-estimated fuel economy checks in at 24 mpg combined, which is pretty average for the class.

The usual sportiness of the Murano has been softened a bit when it comes to handling. Nissan softened the suspension giving the new 2016 Murano a smoother, more luxurious ride.

Just like 2003, the Nissan Murano has again seized the lead in the crossover segment. If you are in the market for a new vehicle in the Olympia area, cruise by the Olympia Auto Mall today and take the new 2016 Nissan Murano for a test drive.

2016 Jeep Wrangler – Your Off Road Experience Just Got Better!

Jeep owners are a separate breed. We don't wait for a nice sunny day to go exploring new territory. Rain, sleet, or snow does not keep us from our destination. The 2016 Jeep Wrangler is up to the challenge.

2016 Jeep Wrangler
The exterior features a bit more of a classy appearance with the emphasis on reducing vibration and noise during off- road driving. The windshield is fixed rather than fold-down to assist in the effort. However, the classic Jeep toughness is still intact.

2016 Jeep Wrangler
Interior design also has more of a luxurious appearance than in previous years. The controls are placed within easy reach. The last thing I want to worry about during trail driving is reaching for knobs and buttons located distantly on the dashboard. Jeep has minimized this concern with the upgraded interior. Included is a military grade navigation system and top notch entertainment system for an even more enjoyable trip.

Plenty of power is provided by the 285 horsepower 3.6 liter V6 engine. If you are like me, the 6 speed manual transmission gives you a greater feeling of control, but a 6 speed automatic is also available. Four-wheel drive is standard as you would expect.

This Jeep strives to make the road trip just as pleasurable as the off-road experience. If you are new to Jeep, you will want to test drive this capable SUV before making any buying decision. Current Jeep owners may want to consider upgrading in 2016 after taking a good look at the Wrangler.

The new generation Honda Fit does not have any drastic changes from previous years, but that's fine with most fans of this popular hatchback.

Taking a look around the vehicle, the most obvious difference is the front end design. A redesigned grille with the Honda emblem in the center is very noticeable. Slight differences in the front bumper and roof spoiler are also evident. Headlights are constructed with new LED technology and the Fit will sport 16 inch alloy wheels. 2016 Lincoln MKC – a Truly Impressive Crossover

Olympia Auto Mall - 2016 Lincoln MKC
I have to admit that the latest trends coming from automakers have me very impressed.  My initial thoughts were that there was not enough room on the auto retail market for the new age crossover category to squeeze in somewhere between the humongous sport utility vehicle class and the economy sized compacts and midsize sedans.  However, I have somehow seen the light, especially with the roll out of the new 2016 Lincoln MKC.

2016 Lincoln MKC
What is truly impressive about this compact crossover is its steady delivery on both luxury and convenience along with comfort.  The vehicle has an impressively strong turbo engine to go along with its lavish and stylish design.  It has excellent handling on the road and its comfort and quality levels definitely reveal that it is well worthy of bearing the Lincoln name that has long been synonymous with luxury and tastefulness.

In a Class by Itself
With all of its well-appointed luxury, quality features, and superb comfort, the MKC is a pleasure to drive. Take a test drive and I’m sure you will agree that the 2016 Lincoln MKC is in a class all by itself.  The EcoBoost version delivers a powerful punch!

Tech is the Highlight of the 2016 Jetta

Olympia Auto Mall - 2016 Volkswagen Jetta
For fans of Volkswagen's Jetta, 2016 is going to be an exciting year. Many long-rumored features will be arriving on the German automaker's compact car.

While most of the changes to the Jetta line come in the form of new or updated technological innovations, another big one is coming under the hood. The long-serving 2.0L naturally-aspirated engine has been retired from the Jetta line, and instead has been replaced by a 1.4L turbocharged one. Volkswagen estimates that the new engine will improve fuel economy by 15 percent over the outgoing 2.0L engine, while also improving power by 35 hp.

One of the more exciting new features in the 2016 Jetta is the arrival of the MIB II Infotainment system. With lower trim levels, it will come with a 5-inch touchscreen, while higher trims will get the 6.3-inch model. The system brings a higher level of smartphone integration to the Jetta. Models equipped with app-connect will be able to integrate Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink. The MIB II will make smartphone pairing easier then ever for Volkswagen owners.

There will also be several driver-assistance innovations coming to the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control will use radar to maintain a set speed and distance from the vehicle in front of you.
  • Forward Collision Warning/Autonomous Emergency Braking can warn drivers of impending front-end collisions, and engage the brakes to avoid it.
  • Automatic Post-Collision Braking System applies brakes in the event of an accident to limit further impact damage.
All told, the new features in the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta should make the vehicle and exciting option for those searching for a new car in the compact segment. Stop by the Olympia Automall today to get a look at all the new Volkswagens, and schedule a test drive today.

The New 2016 Ford F-150 Makes Dreams Come True for Truck Lovers

Olympia Auto Mall - new 2016 Ford F-150
Truck lovers will feel as if their dreams have come true when they encounter the 2016 Ford F-150.  I would usually tend to disagree with such a statement, but this new F-150 leaves little to desire.

With its enhanced Sync 3 infotainment capabilities and more fuel efficient engine, the new F-150 is the epitome of a truck lover’s dream.  It matches all of its standard expectations and more for the performance of a pickup truck to right along with all of the bells and whistles that many truck enthusiasts have come to expect as the norm in lightweight/ light duty pickup trucks.

Sync 3 Infotainment System
2016 saw the MyFord system replaced with the Sync 3 infotainment system.  When Ford uses the word infotainment, the name basically combines the best of both worlds of technology usage: information and entertainment.  The system can allow you to play music or map out a route with the in-dash digital interface and any Blue Tooth enabled mobile device.

EcoBoost = Excellent and Efficient
Truck lovers want more bang for their buck, especially under the hood.  The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 packs a powerful punch.  At a slight upgrade under $800, the twin turbocharged engine delivers on those dreams.  Although Ford keeps a V-8 in the lineup, the turbo V-6 is well worth the upgrade from the base model V-6.  At 19 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway, the turbo V-6 is the most fuel efficient engine selection of the truck's various engine choices.

If you’re thinking about new truck, give 2016 Ford F-150 a try.  Test drive one today at the Olympia Auto Mall.

Safety Tips for using Cruise Control

aberdeen auto repair cruise control
Once a luxury option, cruise control has become basic on many makes and models of new vehicles. Service professionals in the Olympia Auto Mall, Aberdeen’s finest auto repair shops, are frequently asked about proper use of cruise control. In addition to reducing driver fatigue by eliminating the need to constantly apply pressure to the accelerator, cruise control makes driving more fuel efficient by maintaining a consistent speed. However, all advantages come with some drawbacks. To ensure driving on cruise control is as safe as it is convenient, here are a few safety tips the professionals in the Olympia Automall service departments recommend:

Cruise Where Appropriate
Cruise control is designed for lengthy trips on dry, open roads and highways. Ideally, you should only use cruise on roads with at least two lanes proceeding in each direction of travel.

Stay Focused
Just because you’re not required to keep the speed setting steady, don’t allow your attention to wander from the task of driving safely. Cruise control doesn’t reduce the critical need to steer, brake and be alert to any emergency that may suddenly arise.

Keep Your Foot at the Brake
While you may draw your foot away from the accelerator for comfort, always keep your other foot positioned at the brake pedal. If you need to turn off the cruise to decelerate—or make an emergency stop—quick access to the brake pedal both disengages cruise control and applies braking action.

Turn It Off In Wet Conditions
Don’t use cruise control during rain or other slick road conditions. Hydroplaning is a common occurrence where tires lose contact with a wet road and skim on the layer of water, instead. In a hydroplaning scenario, the cruise control may try to compensate for lost traction by increasing speed and spinning wheels even faster. This may result in total loss of control.

If you are looking for a trusted auto repair shop near Aberdeen Washington, search no more. Visit theservice departments in the Olympia Auto Mall. They will take great care of you and your car!

Symptoms of Automatic Transmission Problems

chehalis used cars automatic transmission
If you’ve experienced that sinking feeling that comes when your car makes a weird noise or doesn't run quite right, you aren't alone. I recently had to take my car in to get looked at and the thought of a major repair bill was making me sweat. All the classic signs of a transmission gone bad were there:

First and foremost, my car seemed to be hesitating as I accelerated. Sometimes it ran just fine and other times it would suddenly lurch out of first gear. The needle showing my RPMs would keep going up, but I could feel the car working harder and harder. I replaced the transmission fluid, but the problem persisted and I knew I was in trouble.

My friend recommended that I put the car in neutral and see if anything happened. I wasn't sure exactly what I should be looking for, but I was surprised by a series of weird noises. It wasn't what I would call a good sign.
Thinking back, there were probably warning signs a few weeks before I actually took by car into my local mechanic. I had noticed some fluid leaking out of the bottom of my car. In retrospect, I should have checked the transmission then and perhaps prolonged the life of my transmission.

The verdict was pretty clear and the cost of a new transmission simply wasn't worth the cost. That is when I decided to visit the Olympia Auto Mall, serving Chehalis and surrounding areas. They specialize in new and used cars and reliable, honest service. After careful thought, it was a better investment to put the cost of repairs towards a used car. The representatives at Olympia Automall worked with me to find an option that fit my budget and now I feel a lot safer driving around in a car that smoothly shifts.

For all your new and used car needs in the Chehalis Washington and surrounding areas, visit the Olympia Auto Mall. You won’t be disappointed!

Green Tips for Taking Care of Your Car

used cars olympia - green car care tips
Purchasing used cars in Olympia can be considered a green act in itself when you think about it. After finding your perfect vehicle after shopping for used cars in Olympia, these green tips can help you take care of your car.

Maintain Your Car & Help the Environment
Following the manufacturer’s service recommendations for maintaining your car will help prolong the life of your vehicle and allow it to run more efficiently.
  • Change your air filter as needed. Proper airflow will help maintain your car’s acceleration and performance. It also improves your car’s emissions.
  • Check spark plugs and replace when needed. Faulty or dirty plugs can cause engine misfiring, which wastes gas.
  • Keep your tires properly inflated. You should check you tire pressure at least once a month. This will help improve your gas mileage and prevent excess wear and tear on your tires.
Keeping your car clean does not mean you need to use harsh cleaners or waste water in the process. There are greener ways to keep used cars in Olympia looking great:
  • Take your car to an environmentally-friendly car wash that uses a water recycling system
  • In between washes, use a 1 part to 4 parts vinegar and water solution to clean your windows
  • Remove unnecessary items from your trunk to reduce clutter, lighten load and improve gas mileage

Tips on how to keep vehicles working during hot weather

car dealerships tacoma hot weather tips
Hot weather usually spells heavy additional wear and tear on your vehicle. During seasonal periods with hot weather, people tend to run the air conditioning and travel more so than any other period during the year. Rather than have my summer road trip travel plans placed on hold due to some vehicular malfunction, I try to keep my vehicle in working condition, especially in preparation for the grueling hot weather of the summer.

Hot weather presents all sorts of challenges, but I like to prepare for these types of vehicular challenges by conducting some preventive maintenance. I usually do some of these preventive measures on my own, while I am certain to take a lot of the maintenance work to one of the nearby car dealerships in Tacoma WA for professional certified mechanics to complete and guarantee the work.

Tips for Hot Weather Vehicle Preventive Maintenance
Here are some tips on how to keep your vehicle in tip top shape during hot weather time periods:
  • Check fluid levels prior at the beginning of spring and prior to summer
    • Oil
    • Transmission fluid
    • Coolant
  • Check engine for leaks, drips and other damages requiring proper attention
  • Ensure that all tires have proper air pressure
Tips for Long Distance Driving in Hot Weather
In order to prepare for long distance driving such as summer road trips, here are some of my top suggestions for having one of the local car dealerships in Tacoma WA check and repair your vehicle prior to a road trip:
  • Radiator flush and refill
  • Air conditioning service package
  • Tire inspection and rotation (Replacement if necessary)
  • Oil system and transmission inspection (Refill fluids if necessary)
  • General road test and overall vehicle inspection
This should provide you with confidence for braving another hot summer with your vehicle intact and road ready. For more great summer travel tips and service, visit the great cardealerships at the Olympia Auto Mall, proudly serving Tacoma and surrounding areas.

Tips for Maintaining Your Car Battery

best midsize suv - tips for maintaining your car battery
Basic upkeep is part of owning an automobile. You can have the best midsize SUV on the market today but that doesn’t mean you can ignore regular maintenance. One aspect of maintenance that you can do on your own is maintaining your car battery. If the car battery in your SUV is not a maintenance-free battery then you will need to run through this list on regular basis. Here are some simple steps to keep your battery maintained and your car on the go...

1.   Keep your battery clean and free of oxidation, corrosion, and grease.
2.   Make sure your battery is secure and is not bumping around under your hood hitting other parts of your engine.
3.   If you don’t have a maintenance-free battery, keep it topped off with water.
·         First park your car in a safe area and turn off the ignition. Make sure you have plenty of room to work in. Raise the hood and locate your battery. At this point you may want to clean the top of the battery itself to prevent dirt and debris from falling into the battery cells when you open it. Next remove the vent caps.
·         Next check the water level in each of the battery’s cells. For those that are running low on water carefully top them off with distilled water. It is very important that you only use distilled or water that has been purified. Impure water (for example straight from the tap) can damage your battery due to its impurities.
·         Fill the battery to just below the cap hole. Be sure to not overfill. Be sure to clean up any spills that may occur with fresh water and carefully wipe down the top of the battery.

The Olympia Auto Mall cares about your car experience. Check out our large inventory of new and used SUVs, cars, trucks, and hybrids!

What Are the Functions of a Car Radiator?

Car Radiator - hybrid suvWhether you're driving a brand new hybrid SUV, a classic muscle car or conservative family sedan, one piece of equipment all will certainly have installed is a radiator. Radiators are appliances designed to transfer heat, whether in your automobile or in your home.
Vehicle radiators perform two important functions:
  • Cooling the engine
  • Providing heat for the passenger cabin

Proper Cooling is Critical

Explosions and friction associated with internal combustion engines cause the engine to heat up significantly. This is needed because an engine must "warm up" and remain at proper operating temperature for best performance. Too much heat, however, will destroy your vehicle's engine, causing metal parts to fuse and the engine to seize.

Channels built into an engine's exterior allow for cooling fluid to run through the unit, transferring heat from the engine to the coolant. The liquid then runs through a hose to the radiator, where heat is dissipated to the surrounding air, facilitated by the radiator's fins, the engine fan, and the radiator's front-positioning within the engine compartment.

Fin-construction allows for maximum surface area and small tubes running through the radiator expose the coolant to the effects of cooler surrounding air. It's then returned to the engine jacket in order to absorb more heat. During this cyclic process, some of the heat is made available to the passenger compartment, where it's used to provide warmth for occupant comfort.

Your car's thermostat is a heat-sensitive valve that regulates when and if coolant is circulated through the system. This regulates engine temperature. A low coolant level in your hybrid SUV or your two-seater sports car can spell disaster if allowed to go too low. Then it's new engine time!

What Causes Car Radiator Overheating

A common problem that many drivers may encounter during the summer is having their car overheat, especially if you are driving an older vehicle. There are a few reasons why your car may overheat; but usually it is because you are low on coolant. However, the solution to your car radiator overheating may not always be as simple as adding additional coolant.
Car Radiator Overheating

Common Cooling System Issues
You will want to rule out reasons why the coolant level is low in the first place. If you add coolant to your vehicle and still experience frequent overheating that requires you to add more, it is very possible you have a leak in your cooling system. A telltale sign is drips or puddles under your car. This leak could be coming from a hose, your radiator, or water pump. Your mechanic can pressure test your system to determine the source of the leak.
Other common cooling systems that could cause overheating, including:
  • The radiator cap needs to be replaced because its gasket has deteriorated
  • Your accessory belt that drives the water pump is slipping
  • The thermostat needs to be replaced
  • Your radiator is clogged and needs to be steam-cleaned
  • The bottom radiator hose collapses under pressure
  • Broken fan belt or fan malfunction

Additional Reasons for Overheating
Problems that are not related to your cooling system could cause your car to overheat. Your engine may be dry because you are low on oil. This could cause major damage to your engine, so be sure to check your oil regularly and have it changed as recommended. Your timing may also need to be adjusted because late timing can also cause overheating.
